Abstract: A golf club head having a milled planar strike face formed of oxidizable metal material and a plurality of primary grooves, and a first oxidation-prevention coating permanently covering at least a portion of the body. The primary grooves have toeward ends that may be unaligned vertically. A temporary user-removable cover may cover at least a portion of the oxidizable strike face surface area and obscure the view of at least a portion of the plurality of primary grooves, and may incorporate an opening to display a portion of the face and a portion of the plurality of primary grooves, a non-stick tab coupled to a periphery of the temporary user-removable cover, and/or an external layer of plastic-based shrink wrap. The temporary user-removable cover may be adhesively attached to the face to seal an underlying area from environmental exposure and inhibit oxidation.
